Regular saving is the cornerstone of credit union membership and provides the credit union with available funds with which loans are made. Therefore, in order to be a credit union member, a savings account with a minimum balance of $50 is required.
Dividends are declared by the Board of Directors and are calculated on the actual daily balance in the account. These dividends are paid to the membership on a quarterly basis.
There are no limits on
the number of withdrawals that can be performed by the member per
quarter. The aggregate total of a member’s WCCU share accounts
is federally insured up to $100,000 by the National Credit Union
Administration (NCUA) and backed by the full faith and credit of
the United States Government. Young people are the building blocks of our future; accordingly, WCCU encourages children to open savings accounts. Parents may open custodial accounts for each child under the age of 18.
Children have their own section of our quarterly newsletter called “Kids Corner”. “Kids Corner” teaches children valuable lessons regarding handling their money, saving and credit through games, puzzles, and articles suited to their interests.
The minimum balance requirement
is more lenient on the children’s accounts because children
are allowed to “build” their minimum balance over time. Workmen's Circle Credit Union can help you plan for your future. Depending on your specific needs or tax situation, you may choose from a variety of IRA products.
Members may choose from Traditional and Roth IRA’s. WCCU has trained personnel on staff to assist members in their decision. The aggregate total of a member’s WCCU IRA accounts is federally insured up to $250,000 by the National Credit Union Administration (NCUA) and backed by the full faith and credit of the United States Government.
WCCU also offers Coverdell
Education Savings Accounts (ESA) to help save for your child, grandchild,
niece or nephew’s education. Another type of savings vehicle that is offered by Workmen's Circle Credit Union is the money market account. This account is specifically designed for those individuals who maintain high balance accounts. The minimum amount needed to open a money market account is $20,000.
The dividend rates on
the money market account are paid monthly and are based on a tiered
rate structure; therefore the rate depends on the balance in the
account. With our money market account, the more you save, the more
your earn. Certificates of Deposit are available in a variety of terms at extremely favorable rates. Rates are changed weekly based on fair market conditions. A minimum balance of $5,000 is required.
All of our certificates
are automatically renewable with several options for distribution
of the monthly interest. Certificates of deposit are a safe way
of increasing your return while still remaining relatively liquid.
You can even set them up to give you a monthly income or the interest
can be reinvested into the certificate. The choice is yours. Workmen's Circle Credit Union offers a wide variety of loan products, such as mortgages, Home Equity, new/used cars, signature notes, etc. We can serve the loan needs of individuals as well as small businesses, just ask.
Borrowing is easy and convenient. Members receive prompt and courteous service with the lowest possible rate and most flexible terms available.
Loans are approved locally by either a loan officer or the Credit Committee. Our loan decisions are based on the three C’s of credit: Credit worthiness, Character, and the Capacity to repay. Loan applications may be obtained and submitted in person, by telephone, or by fax. You may even obtain an application on this web site.
Additional payments or total payoff of a loan may be made at any time without any prepayment penalty. Interest is computed only on the unpaid balance.
Loans are made to members
for any worthwhile purpose. Every effort is made to provide you
with the loan that you desire.
The easiest way to save
or make loan payments is through electronic funds transfer also
known as direct deposit. With your instruction, our staff can set
up an automatic debit to your checking account at another financial
institution. Once the process is started, the only thing you have
to remember to do is make the monthly entry in your checkbook. Workmen's Circle Credit
Union can accept payroll deductions from your employer either electronically
or by check. Payroll deductions are initiated through your employer,
so please contact your payroll or personnel department to find out
if this option is available to you. Wire transfers may be
sent to or received from another financial institution. Incoming
wires are free, however there is a fee to send an outgoing wire.
